Motor Depot outline wider expansion benefits

The news that up to 40 new jobs will be created in the Humber region by virtue of Motor Depot's acquisition of a new 5.8 acre site in Scunthorpe has - not surprisingly - been well-received.

The Scunthorpe Telegraph and a number of influential motoring publications all gave excellent coverage of developments, which has seen Motor Depot acquire the old Go-Car vehicle supermarket site to facilitate the expansion programme.

As you would expect, the 40 new positions was the 'headline grabber' but - as managing director Steve Butterley points out - the expansion delivers other wider benefits to the local economy.

"Of course it is excellent news for the Humber region that Motor Depot is creating 40 new positions, but it goes much further than that," says Butterley.

"Already we have appointed local contractors to carry out all the refurbishment work and we are obviously going to need significant new signage which, again, will be carried out by a local sign-making company.

"In the longer term, the expansion means we will require more vehicle parts, stationary, IT parts...the list goes on. All of this will benefit the local economy, and we are very proud of that."

Butterley says that Motor Depot remains on track to get the new showroom up and running before Christmas, in tandem with its new subsidiary site, Trade Centre Scunthorpe.

Recruitment for the new positions is well underway and Butterley is delighted with the response so far, saying: "Motor Depot has an excellent reputation within the industry as a first-rate employer and we are thrilled with the quality of applicants so far."
