Motor Depot to offer in house car buying service

East Yorkshire's largest independent car supermarket - Motor Depot - have broken new ground by opening their own 'in-house' car buying service.

By offering a no-obligation 'walk-in' service where vehicles can be valued physically and a sale completed in minutes, Motor Depot believes it can help customers circumvent the pitfalls traditionally associated with selling to online companies.

So-called 'car-buying companies' are very much the preserve of the internet, where valuations are reached via the use of generic computer-valuation software. However, because vehicles are valued unseen, disputes at 'hand-over' time are commonplace with thousands of customers complaining of drastically reduced offers and hidden admin charges.

Indeed, a 2011 OFT (Office of Fair Trading) investigation into market leader, webuyanycar.com, found that a staggering 96% of customers received less for their vehicle than the price quoted online.

According to Motor Depot's managing director, Steve Butterley, simplicity and transparency is what customers want.

He said: "In theory, utilising a car-buying company should be a quick and easy solution to selling a car. The problem is, selling a vehicle online creates pitfalls and challenges of its own and many customers don't ultimately get what they bargained for.

"By opening up a no-obligation 'walk-in' service, Motor Depot is actually putting the seller in complete control. Customers know its a company they can trust and, by actually valuing the vehicles physically, a transaction can be completed quickly and with total transparency. In short, we are providing a simple, one-stop solution which we believe customers will respond to."
