Affordable SUV Claims Top Used Car Prize

Mon 27th Sep 2021

There are hundreds of used cars, models and trims available for the discerning car buyer to choose from these days, but the motoring experts at What Car? have recognised that one stands out above all the rest.

The Peugeot 5008 has claimed the title of Used Car of the Year at the annual What Car? Used Car of the Year Awards, claiming a double win as it was also named as best Used Large SUV.

With key judging criterias such as reliability, affordability and availability, the What Car? Awards are seen as a good guide as to the rising stars of the used car market.

Launched in 2017, the 5008 has already claimed a number of awards, including the Large SUV title at What Car?’s other awards focusing on new cars.

In awarding the Peugeot 5008 the top prize, the judges said: “It still has all that we ever loved about it – its refinement, driving manners, practicality and comfort – and now adds in an eyebrow-lifting level of affordability. That a car we love so much new should be such great value when bought used is a terrific result.”

The 5008 has great flexibility, with the option of two or three rows of seat, the ultimate people carrier with up to seven individual seats. Peugeot has also employed the highest-spec i-Cockpit technology and a range of driver assistance systems to keep those passengers safe.

“It’s a car we’ve always admired, not least for its generous space and impressive practicality, and now that it’s become so affordable on the used market it’s clearly a great second-hand proposition, too. Here is a large seven-seat SUV that is both stylish outside and plush inside and also really good to drive, with top-notch handling and some smooth and efficient engines. It’s wonderfully refined and comfortable, too. None of our other category winners could match its combination of all-round desirability, practicality and value for money.”
