Pope Set To Go Electric

The Catholic church may be famous for blowing white smoke to signal the arrival of a new Pope, but the Vatican City will soon be emission free as the all-new Popemobile looks likely to be a 0-60mph SUV designed by the man who has worked with James Bond.

Henrik Fisker, a car designer who has created eye-catching sports cars for Aston Martin and BMW, is now producing his own range of self-titled electric SUVs, and is ready to present a prototype vehicle featuring a pop-up glass cube so that the Pope can visit the masses in style, comfort and safety.

The project came about after Fisker had an audience with the Pope in the Vatican this week, and though many other manufacturers can share similar claims to be creating the Pope an electric vehicle. Fisker are confident enough to go public with their claims.

“Henrik Fisker had an audience with Pope Francis, the Holy See where he presented his vision for the first all-electric papal transport to the Pope on historic visit to Vatican City. Delivery of the custom-made Ocean-based SUV is planned for next year,” said an official statement from Fisker.

“Fisker is set to develop the first all-electric vehicle for the Holy See, Pope Francis, after a historic visit to Vatican City.”

Fisker’s range of electric vehicles are not currently available in the UK, however the Denmark born American has an English wife and is expected to begin exporting his Ocean SUV to the UK sometime soon.

His wife, Geeta Gupta-Fisker is believed to be the inspiration for supplying the Pope with a customised vehicle.

“I got inspired reading that Pope Francis is very considerate about the environment and the impact of climate change for future generations,” she said.

“The interior of the Fisker Ocean papal transport will contain a variety of sustainable materials including carpets made from recycled plastic bottles from the ocean.”
