Vanquish Gets A New Look From Original Designer

Mon 2nd Sep 2019

The 2001 Aston Martin Vanquish was one of the highly regarded supercars of the new millennium and now 18 years on it has a new look thanks to its original designer, Ian Callum.

Callum has spent the last few years working at Jaguar, but went solo earlier this year launching his own independent design company. The new-look Vanquish is the first project to emerge from that studio.

Under the title of R-Reforged, the limited run of 25 reborn Vanquish will cost potential owners £550,000 and will come with more than 100 changes to the original, using a host of techniques which were not available when the original Vanquish was produced.

"It’s rare that a designer has the chance to retell the story of one of their own cars. I’ve wanted to do that for some time and with R-Reforged we could do something special,” said Ian Callum CBE.

"Materials and technologies have advanced, allowing us to introduce these along with new ideas that weren’t feasible when the car was launched."

With a new carbon fibre bumper and LED headlights the new Vanquish will certainly catch the eye, whilst the interior is fully up-to-date with the latest digital infotainment system and added luxury items include a detachable watch by Bremont and bespoke luggage by Mulberry.

The new Vanquish has already caught the eye of Aston Martin’s current boss, Andy Palmer, who tweeted: “Impressed, Ian Callum has managed to make the iconic V12 Vanquish look even better.”
